ICI RETRO PATCHWORK COLLECTION
Undoubtedly quintessential sample of recycling and upcycling ICI Retro is a colourful, vivacious and contemporary patchwork collection.
Weaving rag rugs, probably one of the oldest, folkloric recycling craft and has been extensively performed all around the world from Sweden to Japan, from America to Anatolia (mainland, Asian part of modern Turkey, also named as Asia minor historically) since centuries.
Produced to repurpose and recycle left over materials, fabrics and yarns, rag rugs are very colorful addition to any home, create warm and cosy ambience and also embody traces of family history.
Redesign of traditional Anatolian rag rugs woven by Anatolian women in patchwork style yielded surprisingly contemporary results.
Ornamented by stripes with various extends created by different colors and different materials original Anatolian rag rugs are firstly monochromed, then cut into patches and combined together with a complementary course stitch.
Available in seventeen mostly pastel colors, ICI Retro patchworks recall modern, abstract paintings where authentic features of original weavings are perceived nebulously.
